Landrum Endorses Harper
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Over the past 5 months, I have campaigned throughout the entire 3rd Congressional District and spent time with some wonderful people. I have also had the opportunity to campaign with all the candidates who initially ran in the Republican Primary.
Throughout the Primary, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand the character and motivation of each candidate. Now that we did not make it to the runoff, I believe I should let you know what I have seen on the campaign trail.
Throughout the debates, forums, and joint appearances, one of my opponents stood out of the crowd. This candidate has the convictions, passion, and the heart to serve the people of the 3rd District, which I think is vital for our next Congressman. This candidate has run a clean campaign and has refused to participate in the typical mudslinging or personal attacks used by other campaigns - either through television commercials or through word of mouth. I respect this candidate as a man of faith with a servant's heart.
That is why, in the Republican Runoff on April 1st, I am going to be supporting Gregg Harper for Congress and I humbly ask for your consideration to do the same. I have talked with Gregg about the issues that matter to me, and I feel confident he will address these issues as our next Congressman.
If you would like to help Gregg by volunteering for his campaign, donating to his campaign, or if you would just like more information, you can visit his website at www.greggharperforcongress.com or you can call his office at (601) 420.2211.
Again, thank you for your support during our campaign.
Sincerely,
David Landrum

Holland with Clinton and Obama
Steve Holland Email
Tomorrow (Tuesday) is key to our quest to go to Washington and represent the people of the First Congressional District. A lot has happened in the last couple of days.
The Jackson Clarion-Ledger newspaper endorsed our campaign on Sunday. While newspaper editorials don't vote, we appreciate Mississippi's largest publication for supporting our efforts. Quoting from the Clarion-Ledger, it said, "Steve Holland is the best choice based upon his cumulative years of service in the Mississippi House of Representatives and as an aid to legendary Congressman Jamie L. Whitten."
On Thursday night I was with Hillary Clinton in Canton along with several hundred other democrats. On Friday night I was recognized with former President Bill Clinton at the Furniture Market in Tupelo. I was overwhelmed at the enthusiastic reception so many gave our campaign.
On Monday (today) I was with Barack Obama at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus along with supporters of our effort. At the same time we were represented at Ole Miss when Chelsea Clinton made an appearance there.
Again, I urge you to contact friends and family to go vote. To help us they must vote in the democratic primary. Thanks for everything. We're having a "watch & wait" get together at our campaign headquarters at 5361 Cliff Gookin Drive in Tupelo beginning about 8:00 p.m. Come and join us. We are next door to Four Seasons Restaurant, a Chinese food establishment, and we plan to have them prepare some knick knacks.
Please forward this message to your email lists.
Thank you.
Steve

Just Wild about Harper
Dear Friend,
The voters in the Third Congressional District have several good candidates from which to choose in the upcoming election. If you are not already committed to one of the candidates, I hope you will consider Gregg Harper. If you are already committed, I certainly understand.
Gregg is dedicated to working for the traditional values we believe in. I have no doubt that he will be a strong supporter of those values in Congress.
We need people like Gregg in Washington now more than ever. There is no doubt in my mind that if liberals gain control of government, those of us who believe in traditional values will have many major battles to fight. I want Gregg to be there leading the fight for us.
Be sure to vote. And if you feel so led, encourage your family and friends to join you in voting for Gregg Harper for Congress.
Thanks for caring enough to get involved. I urge you to go vote.
Sincerely,
Donald E. Wildmon

Holland and Clinton
From a Steve Holland Campaign Email.
Since Bill Clinton is going to be at the Tupelo Furniture Market Friday, we are asking any who can to congregate at our Campaign Headquarters at 5361 Cliff Gookin Blvd. between 4 and 4:30 to pick up cards, attach magnetic door signs and Steve Holland lapel stickers and drive en masse to the location.
The doors at the Furniture Market open at 4:30 and they say Bill Clinton will be there about 5:30. It will be a free fish fry. Our opponents will have their supporters there so we need to be there, too.
It will give our Tuesday vote momentum. We are excited. We have added radio spots to our schedule. Our TV spots have been praised for the "Best of Show" on message, creativity and actors (our volunteers). Thanks for everything. Tell your friends not to forget to vote Tuesday. Also, forward this message to your email list.
Thanks,
Steve

Lampton blames campaign staffer for Landrum evidence
From: "Bill Lampton David Landrum for Congress Campaign Chair"
Date: Mon, 3 Mar 2008
Subject: Support for David and Jill
Dear Friends:
I was as surprised as you were to read the Clarion Ledger article yesterday about David and Jill's voting history. It did not fairly represent the David and Jill that we know, admire and respect. They've both made important commitments over the years to good government and the Republican Party. Like you, I am enormously grateful that a man of David's integrity and character would join in the rigors of a political campaign to represent Mississippians in Congress.
David tells me that he and Jill vividly remember voting in those elections that the newspaper questioned. David sent a staffer to find their signatures and confirm. Unfortunately, a press release was sent out by the campaign staff without David's knowledge and approval. It never occurred to either David or Jill to verify the signatures. David accepts responsibility for an honest mistake. Unfortunately, the election commissioner's office reports that the voting affidavits that would have confirmed their participation are missing.
A lot of us have known David Landrum for many years, and I know you'll agree that we need a man of David's character and his tough, get things done, no nonsense approach to tackle the complicated problems in Washington. I'm proud to support my friend David Landrum, and I hope you'll join me with your endorsement in an ad to run in the Clarion Ledger. The text for the ad is below. Thank you for your help in sending David to Washington.
If you would like for your name to appear with this ad, please reply to this email. If you know of anyone else that would like to be included, please forward this email to them so they can reply. Please include your name, how it should be printed, and the city where you live.

Broadwater Emails
2.25.08 - Third Congressional District Republican Candidates’ Answers When Asked the Question, “Why Should People Vote for You Over the Other Candidates?”
This is a synopsis of the Republican candidates’ answers when asked the question in public debates and forums or as stated in television advertisements and/or other media, “Why should people vote for you over the others candidates?”
James Broadwater: Because you won’t have to beg me to do what’s right / We need to restore Christian values to our nation
Gregg Harper: Because you know in your heart of hearts I'm the right one
Gregory Hatcher: I’ll listen to you/I won’t forget where I came from
David Landrum: I know how to start a business/I’ve spent 29 years signing the front of a paycheck, not just the back of a paycheck/I know how to create jobs/I’ll lower your taxes
Bill Marcy: I was born in Chicago of Southern parents/I’m a conservative’s conservative
Charlie Ross: I was a state senator/I have experience/I can hit the ground running/
John Rounsaville: I was an aide for Chip Pickering/I have experience/I can hit the ground running
2.21.08 - BROADWATER DISTINGUISHES HIMSELF AT DEBATES
James Broadwater has proven that the Republican candidates for Chip Pickering's seat in Congress are not all the same.
Broadwater has distinguished himself in three debates from the others in statements that he is so pro-life that he favors a Human Life Amendment to the Constitution, that he believes in marriage so much that he has authored a Community Marriage Agreement and endorses a Federal Marriage Amendment, and that on taxation, he seeks to do away with the income tax, abolish the IRS, get rid of the marriage penalty, and kill the death tax - and he has signed Americans for Tax Reform's Pledge to not raise taxes - all things that the other candidates have not done so far. He is also the only candidate who has stated that he is willing to use all the means at our disposal to stop illegal immigration, including using the military, SWAT teams, canine units, helicopters, aerial surveillance, the Civil Air Patrol, the national guard and the reserves, state law enforcement agencies, and even deputized citizens.
Broadwater has also distinguished himself as a leader among the candidates in that some of the other candidates have begun "borrowing" some of his statements and using them as their own - notably, former State Senator Charlie Ross and candidate Bill Marcy in a debate last night in Meridian, where both men used the statement that illegal immigration is just that - illegal - a statement James Broadwater made Monday night in a debate in Pearl which was quoted in the Tuesday edition of the Clarion-Ledger. For faith, for family, for freedom, vote for James Broadwater in the March 11th Republican Primary.
2.21.08 - The Broadwater Plan to Stop Illegal Immigration
James Broadwater has announced today his plan to stop illegal immigration. He publicly states that he will lead the way in the U.S. House to utilize all the means we have at our disposal, including using the full-time active duty military, the national guard and reserves, the FBI, the CIA, ATF, state law enforcement agencies, SWAT teams, helicopters, aerial surveillance, canine units, and deputized private citizens to seal our borders.
In May of 2006, Jennive Ramsey of Morton, Mississippi, in Scott County, wrote in an article that was published on the internet:
First Person Account Of What Illegal Immigration
Has Done To Morton (Scott County) Mississippi
I am a native of Scott County - Morton, MS to be exact (Little Mexico) as it is referred to.
Growing up in Morton, we (school kids) knew that not all of us were going to go to college, but we also knew, though it was hard work, that we could make an honest living and gain a living wage by working at the chicken plant "B.C. Rogers".
It seemed like over night our town was being over-run with Latinos, Cubans, Dominicans etc.... Over time they took all the jobs at the chicken plant and there were no rental houses available. Then the starting wage at the chicken plant went from about 8.00 per hour to minimum wage. (late 80's early 90's).
Later, my family took a trip to San Antonio to attend a wedding. While we were there we went to Mexico (entering in Laredo). In Laredo we bought a newspaper and in the newspaper was an ad for B.C. Rogers, Morton, MS open to anyone - it stated that a bus would be at a certain place at a certain time ..... to pick up anyone who wanted a "job" with free housing.
What B.C. Rogers was doing basically was bussing in the illegals, giving them a job, and putting them in shot-gun style house's, the houses were/are "full" past capacity...... B.C. Rogers would then take the "rent" from their "paychecks" along with other incidentals they would deduct...food, lights, water etc... These people were put in basically huts and made to work like slaves. (I do not feel sorry for them).
Now we have "Little Mexico"... formally known as Morton, MS. I have been in stores and watched the owners chase them down for stealing... and then hear the sad story of the store owner ... because he has been robbed to the point he can't make it anymore. Outside his store you can see an Amigo with his own version of a store (a piece of plywood on top of a milk crate) set up outside on the street selling vegetables and tall glass candles. Every store has the word "HOT" in 3-4 different language to accommodate the different ethnic groups represented in the community and because they claimed not to speak the language... (a lie in most cases).
So in a "nut" shell we can blame B.C. Rogers now Koch Foods for the invasion of Mississippi....
Respectfully,
Jennive Ramsey
Lieutenant Governor Phil Bryant told us when he was State Auditor that we have almost 50,000 illegal immigrants in the State of Mississippi alone (one source said that was a conservative estimate), and that they were costing us tens of millions of dollars in government expense and that they were placing a strain on our health care, prison, and education systems. He's right.
Not only that, but as I said in a debate in Pearl on Monday night, illegal immigration is just that - ILLEGAL. They have broken our laws to get here; why would we think they are going to obey our laws now that they are here?
And I am also in favor of punishing the business owners who knowingly hire them, like the one in the example given by Mrs. Ramsey. How dare they jeopardize our national security for the sake of greed? "Thou shalt not covet" definitely applies here.
We have to stop illegal immigration now. We already deport - some of them over and over again - some of the illegals who are already here, and many of them just come back again. We must deport them, and not allow them to return. And we must not allow children born in America to people who are here illegally to be classified as American citizens. That constitutional amendment was intended only to apply to the children of people who were slaves to be classified as American citizens from the time they were born. We must not allow that provision to be abused to aid and abet the invasion of our country that is taking place now.

I would like to thank everyone that joined us for our Campaign Rally and Fish Fry on Saturday, February 9th at the Mississippi Agriculture Museum. We served over 675 plates of catfish and we had over 700 supporters join us for the event.
I also wanted to take a second to tell you about our current television commercial. Currently, our commercial talks about U.S. Representative Charles Rangel from New York. Representative Rangel has introduced H.R. 3970 which would repeal the Bush Tax Cuts and devastate our already shaky economy. The Heritage Foundation has studied Representative Rangel's tax proposal, and says that this tax bill would cause a tax increase of more than $1700 a year for working families in the Third Congressional District and cause us to lose more than 2000 jobs! If you remember, Congressman Rangel is also the same person that asked the question, "who...wants to live in Mississippi?"
Well, I can tell you, I have always lived in Mississippi, I can't imagine living anywhere else in the world, and if elected as your next Congressman, I will fight this tax bill to protect our Mississippi jobs and families.

On Monday, the Winston County Republican Club hosted a forum for the four leading Republican candidates at the Catfish Opry in Noxapater. We started with a great meal of catfish and chicken, and then I had the opportunity to speak with over 200 voters about stopping illegal immigration, improving economic development and creating jobs, and why my experience working as a senior aide to both Congressman Pickering and Governor Barbour sets me apart from the field.
After speaking to the Jones County Republican Women on Wednesday, we campaigned through Southwest Mississippi before ending up at our first debate in Summit. This debate allowed me to talk about my experience with issues critical to the future of the region of this part of our state. I discussed how to bring more jobs to Southwest Mississippi through the use of wood-based alternative energy and the importance of increasing access and affordability of health care, especially in rural areas.
We arrived back in Jackson late that night, and after three and a half hours of sleep, we were on the road again – this time to DeKalb for the Kemper County Prayer Breakfast. After a morning of great fellowship, we made stops all over East Mississippi to visit with voters.

Tonight, I will be participating in a forum at the Catfish Opry in Noxapater at 7:00 p.m. There will be a dinner beginning at 5:30; the cost is $25. Also, the Stennis Institute is hosting a debate this Wednesday at Southwest Community College's Fine Arts Building in Summit. The Summit debate will begin at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. If you are in the area, I hope that you will stop by.
Everywhere I go, people ask me about the economy. People know that jobs and economic opportunity are important. The role of government should be to provide an environment for businesses to prosper. Government should ensure that our transportation and infrastructure systems meet the needs of business development, and government should also keep taxes low and ensure a predictable and fair legal system.
In Mississippi, we showed this formula works. Over the past four years, over 40,000 new jobs have been created by the private sector. The pro-business environment created by the passage of tort reform and not raising taxes created the environment for this to happen. I am proud to have drafted the tort reform bill while serving in the legislature. I also had the highest business rating in the Senate, and when I get to Washington I will have the same pro-business values. If you want to know how I will help businesses while in Congress, just look at what I did in the Mississippi Legislature.
Our first television commercial aired this past week. I hope that you have had an opportunity to view it. If not, click here to watch online.
We have a continuing need for volunteers to help with mailings. Also, next weekend we will walk neighborhoods in Meridian trying to get my message out. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please contact the campaign office at 601-362-7677. I am very grateful to the folks who have been helping the campaign. With your help, we will be successful in the primary and the general elections.
The election is March 11. Many schools will be on Spring Break during this time. If you are going to be out of town on Election Day, I encourage you to cast an absentee ballot. Contact your local circuit clerk to see about voting absentee if you are not going to be in town for the election.
Until next time,
Charlie Ross

Our Campaign for Congress is gaining momentum. Let me give you an update. Northeast Mississippi Friends gave us a successful fundraiser Friday night at the Park Heights Restaurant in Tupelo. We're actively raising money and looking ahead to our media campaign. A lot of scientific research on other candidates, issues and various matters is being conducted. Our radio spots are on the air.
During the past week I was given the Mississippi Chapter of the American Lung Association Award for my legislative support of research regarding asthma. Did you know that asthma is the biggest reason for children missing school? Neither did I until I became involved with the efforts to develop a comprehensive education program dealing with youngsters as well as adults who suffer from asthma.
I have engaged former Rep. Bill Miles of Fulton to be my campaign manager. Not only did Bill and I serve in the Mississippi House of Representatives together, we both have relationships going back to the late Congressman Jamie L. Whitten. You may recall that I started my career working with Congressman Whitten in Washington. His enviable record of service is a record no one is likely to break for some time. He served more than 50 years. His efforts meant better health care, highways, housing and a higher quality of life. That's what I want to do as our Congressman.
Don't forget that the election is March 11. This unusual election is like playing ball games. The most important game is the next one. The most important election is March 11. The winner of the March 11 primary will advance to the General Election in November. Soon, Gov. Barbour will announce the date for the Special Election. That will determine who serves for the rest of 2008. In November the winner will serve the two-year term.
Be sure to watch our Web Page and keep up with what our campaign is doing. We welcome volunteers and otters who are interested in government for the people. Please feel free to forward this to your friends and family. Best wishes, I remain

Rounsaville Campaign Email
Dear Friends,
This week all Third District candidates were required to release their campaign finance reports, and I am very proud to report that we raised nearly $150,000 in the final months of last year. Compared to the other campaigns, we are in second place with regard to both the amount raised and dollars on hand. This is very exciting news. Our fundraising efforts have continued to remain strong, and we’ve gained even more momentum over the past month. These great results were only possible because of your kindness and generosity, and I sincerely appreciate the support we have received.
We’ve had a busy and productive week on the campaign trail. On Monday, we campaigned in Starkville and on the MSU campus meeting with individuals and groups. We ended the day with a Meet and Greet fundraiser in town, and the turnout for the event was absolutely outstanding. I spoke about the importance of economic development in the Third District and how we need a Congressman who knows the federal government and can work with communities to help develop infrastructure and workforce training capacities to attract new jobs. The recent successes of the Golden Triangle are impressive, and with Mississippi State’s capabilities and expertise, the region will continue to have abundant opportunities for hi-tech industrial growth which will complement the area’s robust retail sector.
On Tuesday, we campaigned in Jackson and Rankin County and then attended a Meet and Greet fundraiser in Newton at Zack Garvin’s Original Steakhouse. The food was great and so was the company. A theme I discussed with our Newton supporters was how Mississippi is losing a great deal of seniority in the House of Representatives this year. To me, this race marks a critical opportunity to begin rebuilding that seniority. Our state has a tradition of electing experienced young people to the House because we realized long ago that seniority in Congress is how to maximize power on Capitol Hill. Because we’re a small state, we’ve achieved tremendous influence over the years by electing our representatives young and keeping them in Congress for decades.
I attended a candidates’ forum on Wednesday at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison. St. Catherine’s is a beautiful retirement community, and we had the opportunity to visit with over 100 voters. I answered questions about how to keep our economy strong, assure energy independence, and solve our current crisis with illegal immigration.
It was great to visit with so many old friends at Mississippi Farm Bureau’s Legislative reception Thursday night and a charitable auction with the Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association on Friday night. I began my career on Capitol Hill handling agriculture and forestry issues for Congressman Chip Pickering which helped me develop close ties to both these organizations. Agriculture will remain a cornerstone of the Mississippi economy, and if elected, I hope to continue working to promote agricultural interests in Washington. As agriculture evolves, it is not only critical to our supply of food and fiber, but the industry will be a key component of addressing our nation’s energy needs.
We spent Friday campaigning in Meridian and East Mississippi. As a result of my time on Capitol Hill with Chip Pickering, I’ve spent many years working with this region of our district. East Mississippi has a lot to be proud of, including a revitalized downtown in Meridian, new job growth, and a strong and patriotic community due to the presence of NAS Meridian and Key Field.
Our army of volunteers worked throughout the district this weekend campaigning door to door and delivering yard signs. After visiting with Rankin County voters early Saturday morning, Laura and I travelled to Starkville and attended several events on the MSU campus before joining our volunteers for some afternoon campaigning. I was surprised by how many of my old professors and friends I encountered as we campaigned door to door throughout Starkville neighborhoods. After the MSU basketball game Saturday evening, we finally made our way back home. When I finished Air Guard drill on Sunday afternoon, Laura and I decided to forgo attending any Super Bowl parties and instead spent some quiet time alone watching the game at home. It was a very welcome break.
This week we’ll be back on the road travelling the district, continuing to work hard and spread our message to voters. Election Day is now just five weeks away, and we are proud of the organization we have built. Thank you for your continued support, and we hope to see you soon.
Yours Truly,
John

Greetings!
Wow! What another great week. It is so exciting to meet Mississippians on the campaign trail, and time is flying by. March 11 will be here before we know it!!
This past week, we were extremely busy getting our message out in the district. Monday morning, I was a guest on Paul Gallo's radio show. From there, we spent the rest of the day in South Mississippi before coming back for an event with our Madison County volunteers. Tuesday, it was Meridian and McComb for me, and Sharon was in Madison. On Wednesday, I began the day by going on the "Bill Smith and Dumpster Dog" morning radio show in Meridian. St. Catherine's Retirement Village in Madison hosted the Third Congressional candidates in a forum Wednesday afternoon, which was a great success. We finished out the week by going to Starkville and South Mississippi again. What a great week!
A paramount issue with me is protecting the unborn. In the Mississippi legislature, I had a 100% voting pro-life record. I will carry the same pro-life philosophy to Washington.
We need your help. The election is only a little over five weeks away. If you have not already done so, please consider making a financial contribution. Even more importantly, please talk to your friends and neighbors. If you need a yard sign or literature, please contact the campaign office, and we will see that whatever you need is delivered.
We are looking for volunteers. Currently, we are walking neighborhoods in the district and have been sending a great number of mailings. If you would like to get involved, please contact the campaign office at 601-362-7677.
Thank you to those who have already made a commitment to my campaign. With your hard work, we will win on March 11.
Until next time,
Charlie Ross

Dear Friends,
Laura and I just returned home after walking door to door with volunteers in Madison County. Despite the weather, it was a great opportunity to talk with voters and share our message of experienced conservative leadership. We're now getting ready to leave for Tylertown, where we'll attend the Walthall County Chamber of Commerce banquet.
This is the end of another fast-paced and exciting week on the campaign trail. We began on Monday afternoon by addressing the Hinds County Republican Women. I spoke with them about the qualities that set me apart, like experience accomplishing Mississippi's goals on Capitol Hill and the issues that are critical to our country's future, such as growing the economy, creating jobs, and strengthening our military.
Monday evening I spoke with the Hinds County Republican Executive Committee and watched the Governor's State of the State Address with them. It was a great opportunity to reflect on how far our state has come over the last four years and the importance of electing leaders who can continue moving Mississippi and the country forward. We then drove down to Mendenhall where I spoke with the Simpson County Republican Executive Committee. I talked with them about the importance of reducing wasteful government spending and supporting fiscally responsible budgets.
Tuesday took the campaign to southwest Mississippi. I had the chance to stop in Liberty, Centreville and Woodville before attending a Meet and Greet with voters in McComb. At each stop, we talked about the importance of having a Congressman with solid conservative values and an understanding of how to work with local communities on their priorities like attracting jobs, improving education, and making quality health care more accessible and affordable.
Later in the week we traveled to east Mississippi and campaigned in Decatur, Union, and Meridian. I've spent the past decade working with leaders in East Mississippi while on the staffs of Congressman Pickering and Governor Barbour, and each time I visit there, I enjoy seeing so many friends. I also had the opportunity to attend the Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Winter Meeting in Philadelphia on Friday, where I had the chance to talk with those attending about the importance of the lumber and forestry industries to Mississippi's economy.
Our campaign received good news on Friday, when the Mississippi State University's Stennis Institute announced that it would be holding four debates throughout the district. As you may remember, I wrote to the Stennis Institute in December asking them to schedule debates so that all voters would have a chance to hear from the candidates directly and learn where each of us stands on important issues. The decision to hold debates was good news not just for our campaign, but for all voters in the Third Congressional District.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity. Laura and I look forward to seeing all of you soon.
Yours Truly,
John Rounsaville

Ross Campaign Email
We are wrapping up another busy week. The days are going by so quickly on the campaign trail that the election will be here before we know it!
I did want to take time out of my schedule to give you a quick update on what we did this week. The staff has worked very hard to place campaign signs in our communities and neighborhoods. If you would like to put a sign for your business or home, please contact the campaign headquarters at 601-362-7677 or by email at contact@charlieross.com, and we will gladly accommodate your request.
We visited with folks at the Simpson County Republican Executive Meeting, the Hinds County Republican Women's Club, and the Madison County Teenage Republican Meeting. We had a wonderful fundraiser hosted by Charles and Cherri Porter at their Reservoir home. I also spent time in Washington D.C. meeting with various organizations in order to help spread my message. Today, I am visiting supporters in Natchez. We are putting many miles on the road!
While on the campaign trail, a concern that I am constantly hearing is the status of our economy. This is an issue that impacts us. I would like to commend the U.S. Congress for reaching a tentative compromise on tax rebates. This will help stimulate the economy, which is a necessity. I believe it would be bad policy for the Democrats to repeal the tax cuts that were put in place by President Bush. These tax cuts have been successful. It would be a mistake to do away with them.
Another way to improve the economy is for government to live within its means. We cannot continue the policy of spending more money than we collect. While serving in the Mississippi Senate, I helped to balance the state budget. I have done it before, and I will do it again when I get to Washington. The Third Congressional District needs a fiscal conservative who can help solve the economic problems that we are encountering, and I am that person.
The election is nearly six weeks away. During the March 11 primary, many schools will be on Spring Break. If you are going to be out of town, I recommend you vote via absentee ballot. This coming Monday, absentee ballots should be available. State law requires these ballots be available 45 days prior to the election. For more information, contact your local circuit clerk. If you or a family member are not yet registered to vote, you can download the voter registration form online by clicking here.
Please continue to talk about my campaign to your friends and neighbors, and as always, if you need any campaign literature, contact the campaign headquarters.
Hope to see you soon,
Charlie Ross

BROADWATER SUPPORTS PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS
In a statement today, Third Congressional District Republican candidate James Broadwater said, "There are 200 million persecuted Christians around the world today, and they are being tortured, brutalized, permanently maimed, and murdered. Thomas Paine said, 'The Reformation was preceded by the discovery of America, as if the Almighty graciously meant to open a sanctuary to the persecuted in future years, when home should afford neither friendship nor safety.' This is a Christian nation. We need to bring them here."

Broadwater Campaign Email
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 18, 2008
BROADWATER BELIEVES HE HAS AN ADVANTAGE IN AVOIDING THE PITFALLS OF WASHINGTON
James Broadwater has issued a statement in light of the recent scandals in Washington, such as the ones regarding U.S. Senators David Vitter and Larry Craig, and the open homosexuality of U.S. Representative Barney Frank, a Democrat, which is largely ignored by the Democrat Party and their media partners.
"I heard David Vitter speak once when he was still a U.S. Representative, before he got into the U.S. Senate," Broadwater said today, "and I remember him saying that he was paying more for a small studio apartment in Washington, D.C. than he had ever paid in rent for any place in his life. I realized that there was no way that he and his entire family could have been in a studio apartment, and I understood that he must have been his time in Washington, D.C. alone - away from the comforts of family and home. I realized that it's probably true that most of the other members must be in the same situation. I also know that the officials who we elect to represent us face strong efforts from both inside and outside of our country to influence the legislative process - people try to bribe, bully, or blackmail them into doing things that are bad for our country and our people. The bribes include money, sex, trips - a lot of things. The bullying includes threats to the elected official and / or his family.
"I am very blessed in that I have a wife and son who will come to Washington, D.C. with me if I am elected. We will be living together, and they will visit me in my office often. They'll probably even be helping out with the work at times.
"Another big plus is that we home school, which gives us the freedom to educate our son anywhere we happen to be. We can literally take off and live in Washington for most of the year without any problem whatsoever. Instead of the hassle of having to change schools, it's just part of a big adventure for us.
"My family will be close by. I'll be with my own wife every night, and that really helps take care of one kind of temptation. We'll be together, which adds to our security and helps alleviate any threats to the safety and well-being of my family. It's so much better than if they were in Mississippi and I was in Washington most of the year and I had to wonder whether they were all right, and I had to wonder how they were doing without their husband and daddy, or wonder what I was missing out on and what they were missing out on by not having me there. I am thankful to God that I have a family who will be coming to Washington with me if I'm elected. They will be making it that much easier for me to do my job to the best of my ability, with God's help."
